Essie Merino Cool is a cool toned neutral grey with a strong plum undertone. Although this is a favourite nail polish of mine for the Autumn/Winter months... I do find this shade rather difficult to describe, as although the main pigment is grey, the plum undertones are strong enough to create a dark lilac finish. I appreciate how Merino Cool is wearable with almost any coloured clothing because of the diverse undertones, and how this creates a chic and sophisticated look with ease. I love Essie polishes; as these are incredibly high quality in regards to their resistance to chipping, smooth thick formula, and also wide brush to create a professional finish. I feel these components make Essie polishes well worth the money and a definite favourite brand in my nail polish collection.
Sally Hansen Plum's The Word is a mauve/purple shade which creates a beautiful shine finish. Plum's The Word is part of the 'complete salon manicure' collection which claims there isn't a need for base coat nor top coat... and I feel the finish of the polish provides evidence of this claim. The polish creates a beautiful shiny finish, and I feel this emphasises the sophisticated look which is wearable with almost any colour. When wearing this I'm often asked if I've had my nails done at a salon and I feel the brush and consistency of the product in particular helps me achieve this professional look. The brush is dense and wide to cover the whole nail perfectly, whilst the consistency is thick enough to create an even opaque layer yet thin enough to avoid the gloopy, peelable look.
Essie It's Genius is a plum tone shade with subtle gold glitter throughout, therefore creating a copper shimmer effect on the nails and capturing the light beautifully. This is a gorgeous colour both within the bottle, and also when applied to your nails... and I feel the colour in the bottle is representative of when applied to the nails. As I previously mentioned, I love Essie polishes as these are incredibly high quality in regards to their resistance to chipping, smooth thick formula, and also wide brush to create a professional finish. I feel these components make Essie polishes well worth the money and a definite favourite brand in my nail polish collection.
Leighton Denny Temptress is a dark purple shade with gold specks of glitter running throughout. This is a beautiful polish both within the bottle, and also once applied to the nails. I do feel this appears darker when applied to the nails than it does in the bottle, as this takes on a black tone as opposed to purple, but I adore this nonetheless. I particularly appreciate the consistency and opacity of the formula as although glitter polishes usually must be paired with a coloured polish to increase intensity... this is not necessary for Temptress. In addition, the gold specks of glitter are large enough to be seen, yet fine enough for a subtle sparkle. Therefore I find this a perfect shade for Winter months, and especially for special occasions where a little glitter and sparkle is necessary.
I hope you've enjoyed reading and I look forward to seeing you in my next post.
