Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette Review & Swatches

Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette Review & Swatches

As an eyeshadow hoarder, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette was bound to end up in my online shopping basket. As soon as the Cult Beauty email hit my inbox, I was checking out. And on arrival it didn't take long for me to get stuck into the fourteen shades and I wasn't disappointed.

The new limited edition eyeshadow palette is perfect for the holiday season, boasting fourteen beautiful shades packaged in a classy, mirrored, textured grey, sturdy, cardboard compact. The ABH palette also includes a handy dual-ended eyeshadow brush, which isn't half bad as far as palette brushes go. But the shadows, oh the shadows are b-e-a-u-tiful. From your everyday one sweep wonders such as 'Buttery', 'Blush' and 'Sherbert'. A fab highlight 'Treasure' and not forgetting a few surprises 'Deep Purple', 'Self-Made', 'Blossom' and ‘Isla’, which are perfect for those who like to experiment with a pop of colour, this palette offers something a little different than the usual palette release. The finishes are a mix of satin, shimmer and matte, but with only two true matte shades on offer, I do on occasion dip into another palette. The quality is fantastic, they're incredibly pigmented and buttery which makes applying and blending a breeze, however due to their soft, buttery texture I would recommend applying the shadows before foundation and concealer as I have experienced a little fallout with a couple of shades. They're very long lasting, when worn with a primer they stay put without fading or creasing for up to 8 hours.

Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015

Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015
Last night I attended the eagerly anticipated Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015. Winged liner and lashes applied, myself and Rosi headed to the venue for an evening of awards, giggles, cocktails, and a little singing...

Firstly, I want to say a MASSIVE thank you everyone who nominated me for the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards and showed their support. 64,000 nominations were made and British Beauty Addict was shortlisted  "Best in Beauty". I couldn’t be more honoured and grateful for the recognition! I also want to congratulate everyone else who were shortlisted across all 10 categories and to those who were awarded last night including both two time winner Brogan Tate who won "Best in Beauty" & 'Highly Commended' for "Best Vlog" and Sophia Meola 'Highly Commended' for "Best Use of Photography".

This years Cosmopolitan Blog Awards was held at One Marylebone a beautiful venue and former church just a stone's throw away from Regent's Park, London. And after a lot of deliberation, I wore a b-e-a-utiful embellished maxi dress that was kindly gifted to me by Frock and Frill and had my hair blow-dried to perfection at Colour Nation - thank you!

But the best part of the evening was meeting such passionate like-minded bloggers, including the beautiful Rosi (Rosanna Pierce), Brogan (Brogan Tate xo) and Amelia (xAmeliax). We had such a giggle stayed until the lights turned on and then ended up in a bar across the road for a cheeky jägerbomb.

Rosi and I shared a hotel room and a glass or two of Malibu and lemonade. And I have to say that this girl is so darn lovely - I wish we lived closer! It can be quite nerve-racking meeting fellow bloggers, but Rosi's so down to earth and genuine. I was in good company throughout the night and felt an immense sense of pride to be part of the blogging community.

One To Try | theBalm TimeBalm Foundation

One To Try | theBalm TimeBalm Foundation

I wasn't expecting to love theBalm TimeBalm Foundation*, but after putting it through it's paces I'm seriously impressed. If you have normal or combination skin and seeking a full coverage foundation look no further...

Up until now, I hadn't ventured into theBalm's offerings bar their best selling Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter Powder and having wanted to add more Balm products into the mix, theBalm TimeBalm Foundation is a welcomed addition to my makeup collection. theBalm TimeBalm Foundation is a cream foundation, encased in face paint like pot, accompanied by a rather naff flat sponge applicator, which admittedly isn't my favourite. But packaging woes aside, this foundation is highly pigmented, long lasting and leaves my complexion looking flawless. On first application, I wasn't so sure, but after 5 minutes it had melted into my skin leaving a very polished, pore minimising, satin finish. You only need a small amount and I find it works well with my Real Techniques Complexion Rescue Sponge and the added moisturise helps the foundation blend out beautifully. The coverage is uh-mazing, concealing redness and imperfections very well. Unfortunately the texture is not suitable for oily skin types and a little powder is required in my t-zone otherwise things get a little greasy during the day.

Although due a packaging upgrade, I highly rate theBalm TimeBalm Foundation £22.00. I'm now eager to try their concealer and I might even pick up another shade as a cream contour.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer
I was never bowled over by the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. So when Urban Decay released their Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer and a number of beauty bloggers/vloggers shared their love for the new release, I had high expectations.

Featured in my Mini Urban DecayHaul, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer £17.50 (what a mouthful) did not disappoint. And having put it through its paces, I can confirm it is everything I wanted the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to be, but more. The liquid concealer applies like a dream, melting into the skin with either my fingers, or damp beauty blender. The rich yet lightweight formula offers complete coverage and has a demi-matte finish. It's also infused with peptides and sodium hyluronate to help the skin retain moisture, which is an added bonus for us dry/combo gals. It's lasting power is pretty good, lasting a full 5-6 hours before showing any wear and that's without a setting powder! And it doesn't stop there, it doesn't look cakey, or settle into fine lines. What more can I say?

Lush Oxford Street Haul

Lush Oxford Street Haul
I spent the entire train journey to London anticipating what I'd buy in Lush, Oxford Street. But once I stepped in-store armed with my boyfriend and a basket, I was overwhelmed with choice and 20 minutes later, slightly intoxicated by Lush fumes I walked out having purchased 5 products.
A Tanya Burr favourite, Lush's King of Skin is a solid body butter and unlike any moisturiser I've ever tried. Applied during or after showering/bathing the solid body butter leaves behind an oily residue that soon after melts into the skin leaving it feeling soft and nourished thanks to its blend of bananas, avocados, oat milk and butters.

Lush's Mask of Magnaminty is your stereotypical girls night in green face mask that boasts a natural peppermint scent. The thick mask feels cool and refreshing on application and its formulation includes honey a natural antiseptic, peppermint oil which helps to absorb excess oil and aduki beans which gently exfoliates the skin on removal. After just one use my skin appears calmer and clearer and thankfully this face and body mask is self-preserving, so no popping in the fridge to then forget about it.

Featured in my 2014 skincare favourites Lush's Tea Tree Water Toner is a product I cannot fault and one I've been meaning to repurchase for a while as my skin loves the stuff! Spritzed directly onto my skin both morning and night, the refreshing toner helps to reduce redness whilst calming, reducing and preventing breakouts with its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It's by far my favourite toner and one I will continue to repurchase. If you're in the market for a new toner and have blemish prone skin look no further.

This cult limited edition Christmas shower gel from Lush has a sweet candy floss scent and although not as mouth-watering as the Body Shop's Glazed Apple Christmas Collection, I simply couldn't resist picking up a bottle. It lathers nicely with my body polisher and the scent lingers in the bathroom, but unfortunately not so much on my skin.

Admittedly I'd rather shower than bath. But on the rare occasion, when I do slumber in bath of piping hot water, I seize the opportunity and share my bath with a Lush bath bomb and Intergalactic is next in the pipeline. The new deep blue bath bomb from Lush has a fresh mint scent and promises to take me on a trip to the Milky Way with its popping candy and glitter line up. It's safe to say I'm very much looking forward to popping this one in the bath. And I'm sure an Instagram worthy post will follow shortly afterwards.
