Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits and glosses are still sold out. I tried to get my mitts on a Lip Kit at the launch, at the first restock, second restock and following restocks. Admittedly I'm a little disappointed at my lack of luck and I quite frankly started to care less about the product and more to see if I could actually get them before they sold out! Nevertheless, whilst my persistence hasn't paid off, I've sourced my very own lip kit, but from L'Oréal, which doesn't break the bank, spares the disappointment and might just be as good as the real thing...
If you think you didn't need a lip liner think again. The L'Oréal Color Riche Lip Liner Couture in 630 Beige a Nu (£3.99) will make you a believer. The easy to wear liner is a flattering mix of pink and beige and is the perfect beauty tool to reshape, resize and balance my lips. The pencil although initially a little hard, becomes a dream to apply once sharpened, gliding along the outline of my lips without tugging. Its soft, smooth and creamy texture, results in frequent sharpening, but it's not drying in the slightest, nor does it feather, or crease and provides a nice base for subsequent lip products.
Speaking
of subsequent lip products, whilst I do appreciate a matte lip, I've been pairing
the L'Oréal Color Riche Lip Liner with L'Oréal's Infallible MegaGloss in 'Potest Queen' (£6.99). And this lip-gloss is not to be scoffed
at! The light peachy pink gloss has a cream finish and when worn with
the liner, the colour combination is perfection and my lips are left looking voluminous. In fact, the shade is comparable
to Kylie Jenner's lip-gloss in 'So Cute' and whilst the two products share
similarities in colour, L'Oréal’s lip-gloss has a grooved doe-foot applicator opposed to a brush, which hugs the
lips allowing for effortless application. The cream formulation is matte (no sparkle in sight), seriously smooth, has a nice amount of pigmentation, is non-sticky and has the moisture of a balm. And what I particularly like about this gloss is when applied it delivers a more dewy finish, rather than the intense high shine that's usually associated with lip-glosses.
Overall, since purchasing the pair from L'Oréal I've been reapplying at will and have worn nothing else. So if like me you simply cannot wait for yet another restock of Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits check these two out. They might just be the perfect alternative to the colour you're craving.

Whilst I own a vast amount of perfumes, Bronze Goddess is surprisingly my only Estée Lauder fragrance. But the gold-topped ombré glass bottle is a welcomed addition to my collection. Like the makeup magpie I am, I spotted the pearlescent purple packaging instantly when browsing the L’Oreal counter. The L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation compact speaks loudly to a millennial audience as it’s far different from their standard simplistic packaging. The compact houses two compartments, one for the provided applicator and the second for the cushion sponge that’s saturated in liquid foundation. The overall concept is convenient, as you can use the applicator provided to tap the foundation onto the skin, or use your own brush, or beauty blender for quick, even, effortless application and re-application. It’s also perfect for travel, as you need not worry about spills, or liquid allowance!
Personally like to grab my
favourite foundation brush and tap it directly into the cushion. The coverage
is customisable, from sheer to medium and whilst far better than I anticipated,
it’s not very buildable beyond a medium coverage. The finish can also be
tailored to your liking, as a thin veil imparts a nice natural glow and the
more you apply the dewier your base becomes. I would describe the L’Oreal Paris
Nude Magique Cushion Foundation as a light reflecting base, leaving my skin
more even toned, but it doesn’t disguise imperfections. Throughout the day it
wears relatively well, but isn’t as longwearing as L’Oreal’s Infallible range
and generally requires setting down with a dusting of translucent powder (on my t-zone in particular) to ensure
it doesn’t slip. Overall, the formulation is weightless, breathable and
moisturising and its light formula is surprising considering its SPF of 25.
Whilst I’m thoroughly impressed
with the L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation formulation, I’m not quite a cushion convert. Why? Well for a few reasons. 1) The compact
doesn’t pack as much product as a bottle - I’ve already found I need to flip
the cushion over every now and then to help dispense more foundation. 2) I’m curious
to find out how this foundation would perform if it was supplied in a bottle. 3)
With a price point of £14.99 I question its value for money. BUT, having said
that, this foundation is great for those that aren’t so great at applying
foundation, has customisable coverage and finish and is perfect for on the go. So,
if you buy one thing this month, make sure it’s L’Oreal’s Paris Nude Magique
Cushion Foundation – its without-a-doubt one to try.

Back in 2012, I purchased
my very first MAC lipstick (Loverlorn) and little did I know fast
forward a few years I would become obsessed with the iconic vanilla scented
hues. But it's okay, I'm not alone; MAC lipstick counters are
notoriously busy, swamped with frenzied females seeking out shades they don't
already own, amongst the hundreds on offer. But there's just something about
the black bullets that get us girls going (no pun intended!). So
today, I wanted to share my MAC nude lipstick collection, classic fail-safe
shades that set off a smokey eye and work well with every eyeshadow and outfit.
And it's important to remember it's not about matching your skin tone, nude
isn't one colour and nude lipsticks are fickle, what works for me, may not work
for you. But all in all nude lipsticks make for a perfectly polished
pout...
Velvet Teddy is described as "deep-tone
beige" with a matte finish and is without a doubt a true nineties
nude. Applied directly onto my lips it's more of a muted medium-dark beige,
with a pink undertone. At first, I found the shade dauntingly dark, especially when paired with
MAC Soar Lip Liner, but the two shades are wearing on me. I also like
to wear Velvet Teddy with a swipe of Brave by MAC. Whilst creamy in texture in
comparison to the likes of MAC Ruby Woo (retro
matte), Velvet Teddy can be a tad drying when reapplied.
MAC Brave lipstick is described as a
"pink-beige with a white pearl" with a satin finish. But applied
directly onto my lips it’s more of a soft rosy neutral pink, with a slight cool
undertone. MAC Brave is lighter than Soar lip liner and pinker than Velvet Teddy. And
due to its satin semi-matte finish, it's opaque, comfortable, and easy to apply
and has good wear time of around 3 hours and leaves a light stain on the
lips.
MAC Modesty is described as
a "muted neutral pink" and is the perfect blend
between pink and brown and isn't too cool or warm toned. Modesty is opaque
in just one swipe and has a cremesheen finish (creamy balmy texture, with
a buildable coverage - which if
by far my favourite MAC Lipstick finish), that doesn't cling to dry patches and is easy
to wear. I've read and heard very little about Modesty, which is surprising as
I reach for it over the likes of Velvet Teddy and Brave.
My most worn nude lipstick from MAC, Peach Blossom is the ultimate
naked lipstick. Described
as a "frosted cool nude", Peach Blossom is more of a light
peachy pink. The cremesheen lipstick from MAC is super flattering enhances my
lips leaving them looking luscious and full. Peach Blossom has a
semi-sheer lightweight finish (which unfortunately requires
frequent top-ups), but is a great alternative if you're not a fan of lip-gloss. It's
a throw on shade, comfortable wear and is forever found in my handbag.
In the words of Vivianna from VDM, MAC Patisserie is a people
pleasing lipstick. And those words alone enabled my purchase and yes, I was
very pleased when I painted my pout with the "sheer creamy neutral
pink". MAC Patisserie has a lustre finish (lightweight and sheer) and
is more pink than brown and a soft gold shimmer runs through the bullet, but
doesn't migrate onto the lips unless layered. Without a doubt a shade I wish I
had tried sooner!
MAC Shy Girl is described as a "creamy
neutral coral beige" with a cremesheen finish. Shy Girl is a throwback
shade in my MAC nude collection, being the first nude lipstick I purchased from
MAC. The peachy nude is unlike anything else I own and I personally find the
coral undertone becomes more apparent the more I apply, so usually apply just
one swipe otherwise things tend to get a little too coral.
Admittedly, not a shade I reach for all that often in recent, but a beauty
blogger classic.
Described as a "light
blue pink" MAC Crème Cup is my least worn nude from MAC. This isn't for
any particular reason, but the light pink has a creamy, opaque formula, which
is great if you're after something more pigmented and pale, but I tend gravitate towards
sheerer shades on a day-to-day basis. Crème Cup is described as a "blue
pink" but it isn't as bright, or blue as MAC Snob. This shade may be one to
pair with a lip liner... I’ll report back.
