Popular with cyclists, walkers and locals, The Cowper Arms pub and restaurant in Cole Green Hertfordshire, has all the charm of a traditional English pub with filling food and a warming atmosphere.

The pub, which sits beside a disused railway line that passes through Hertingfordbury, Letty Green and Welwyn Garden City, isn't unfamiliar to me. In fact, over the summer, Ben and myself often found ourselves sat outside in the beer garden, catching the last of the afternoon sun on many occasion while digging into our favourite dishes.

Speaking of favourite dishes, I was initially concerned The Cowper Arms would have scrapped my go-to main of battered halloumi with twice-cooked chunky chips (£11.75), following a week-long refurbishment earlier this month. But despite the sleek makeover, the menu is relatively the same and, I'm pleased to say the battered halloumi is here to stay.

Yet the entrance, dining room, bar and toilets have had a stylish revamp. And I was all for it. From the pendent ceiling lights, subway tiles, marble countertops, copper accents and mix of leather and velvet studded chairs, they got it right. The venue now boasts a whole new contemporary look.

Whether you want fine dining, or classic pub food, The Cowper Arms offer a selection of great food that comes well portioned and presented. Including hand stretched pizzas (from £10.95), chicken and leek pie (£14.50), home-made British beef burgers (£12.95) and 9oz rib-eye steak (£20.95), which Ben described as 'beautiful', yes really. And if you're feeling bougie, you can add on lobster too and with a much more palatable price tag (£8.95). And I want to put great emphasis on the quality of its food, as whatever you order it's always really tasty.
And if like me you like a good ol' gin and tonic, they've got a vast line-up of floral, fruity and dry gin. Want an interesting gin to order at the bar? Try a raspberry gin and ginger ale - it's surprisingly good.

London has an abundance of pubs with good grub, but when it comes to cosy pubs, you can't beat the countryside. So if you're passing through Hertfordshire, or fancy visiting, be sure to book and order the sticky toffee pudding (£6.50), as its mouth-wateringly delicious.

51 Signs You're A Beauty Addict
Hi my name is Emily and I'm a self-professed beauty addict and often seen in the aisles of Boots. Sound familiar? Well, I've complied a list of 51 tell-tale signs you're a beauty addict. Guaranteed to make all you makeup mavens giggle, if not feel a little guilty!

1. No matter how intoxicated you are, you still double cleanse.
2. You can name a MAC lipstick at a counter without actually picking it up.
3. You have more storage space for beauty products than clothes.
4. If your house was on fire, you'd save your makeup stash first.
5. You keep a tab open on your laptop/mobile and refresh in hopes of a beauty item being restocked.
6. You have multiple Pinterest boards for everything beauty related.
7. You own more makeup brushes, than Vincent van Gogh owned paintbrushes.
8. You can guess a fragrance by smell alone.
9. No nude lipstick is ever the same.
10. You have a very good relationship with the postman.
11. Did someone say gift with purchase?
12. When a magazine has multiple makeup freebies, you buy all copies.
13. When booking a trip abroad, you check to see where the closest Sephora is.
14. ... Then write a mammoth list of what to buy.
15. It's limited edition? Well, I must buy it then.
16. You'd rather eat Super Noodles for a whole month, so you can buy the latest palette.
17. When something goes out of stock MULTIPLE TIMES it brings out the Veruca Salt in you.
18. Your website browser consists of Feel Unique, Escentual, Sephora, Boots, Beauty Bay etc.
19. The staff in your local Boots store knows you by first name.
20. When a friend asks to borrow a lipstick and you drown her in options.
21. You have enough Boots points to repurchase your favourite lipstick. But you're holding back for something much bigger...
22. You always take a selfie after doing a good job with your makeup.
23. You've purchased beauty products purely because the packaging is so darn pretty.
24. You have to set aside an evening to clean your makeup brushes.
25. You own enough beauty products to stock a small store.
26. You have multiple beauty backups.
27. You know more about the beauty product than the lady working on the sales counter.
28. Have recurring nightmares your beauty stash gets destroyed.
29. You store beauty products in your fridge instead of food.
30. TV? It's all about YouTube tutorials.
31. When packing for a holiday, you have a separate list for your beauty bits.
32. You have to walk down every aisle in Boots. Just because.
33. When your friends get ready for a night out at yours they only bring their clothes.
34. You set alerts for new product releases.
35. You could throw a party when you master your winged eyeliner.
36. Your family gets frustrated because your beauty products clutter up the bathroom.
37. You have no fear of asking a complete stranger what lipstick she's wearing.
38. You have multiple of the same foundation in different shades.
39. You can never just "pop" into your local Boots.
40. Makeup purchases are justifiable if you blog about them... right?
41. You have more makeup bags than handbags.
42. Like getting ready to go out more than you actually like going out.
43. When you hit pan, you die a little inside
44. All your beauty products are ESSENTIAL.
45. Strobing, contouring, you name it, you've tried it.
46. Your Instagram account is filled with pretty and well placed-pictures of beauty products.
47. You're on a spending ban.
48. The bottom of your bag is a safe haven for your lipstick stash.
49. You have to buy something in a beauty sale because it's a bargain
50. All your friends come over to yours to get ready to go out, since you have the best makeup.
51. You've read through these and feel guilty.

How'd you score? Let me know if you have anymore to add in the comments below.

101 Feel-Good Songs

The third Monday in January is most commonly known as 'Blue Monday' a.k.a the most depressing day of the year. And it's not surprising; the post Christmas lull is both cold and grey. Not to mention I'm broke, my car is falling apart, my social life is on pause, myself and early mornings have fallen out and if one more person says the word diet I might just throw a banana at them...

It's safe to say I'm in a bit of a slog and lacking enthusiasm! But sometimes I find the best thing to do is pop on a feel-good playlist to help lift my spirits and get sh!t done. So I've compiled my '101 Feel-Good Songs' into a handy Spotify playlist, from new hits and upbeat oldies, it's guaranteed to leave you feeling good. Unleash your inner Beyoncé ladies and show the January Blues who's boss and remember lighter days are on their way!

What's your ultimate feel-good song?

Iceland | The Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon
With breath-taking scenery, hot springs, Northern Lights and the Blue Lagoon, it's no surprise that Iceland is a popular holiday destination amongst travellers. And my recent weekend stay in Reykyavik with Benjamin was magical...

I had previously visited Iceland around 8 years ago, but this time around the snow had fallen and it transformed Iceland into a place that was totally unrecognisable (other than it's distinctive eggy sulpha whiff!). Throughout our three-night stay we set up camp at The Cabin Hotel, which is a short walk from central Reykyavik and a stone throw away from the shoreline. And like the creatures of habit that we are, we visited the same restaurant twice The Solon Bistro, where the relaxed atmosphere was welcoming and almost homely and the dishes were exceptionally good! Prior to arriving in Iceland, I had booked a few excursions. Conveniently the pick up and drop off was at our hotel and the operators were professional, friendly and knowledgeable. So, cold weather ready (thermals, timberlands and Primark mitts) myself and Ben headed out to explore what Iceland had to offer...

The Golden Circle tour was the highlight of our trip. The guided coach tour rolled past volcanic landscapes, glaciers, mountain ranges and petit pony-sized Icelandic horses before we stopping off at some of Iceland's most beautiful sights. The first stop off was a brief visit to the Frioheimar greenhouse cultivation centre, where they grow HUGE, pesticide free tomatoes with the aid of geothermal heat and get this, they fly in a box of Bees every few months from overseas to pollinate the tomato plants! Next we visited the Geysir geothermal area where the boiling water erupts and shoots into the sky up to 30 metres high every 10 minutes - incredible. There were also two places to eat, a souvenir shop and an audiovisual exhibition about geysers, volcanoes and earthquakes, which were free of charge to enter. But the main star of the show was The Gullfoss (Golden Falls) waterfall, which thunders into a deep canyon and I think you'll agree is utterly breath-taking. The last stop on the tour was the Thingvellir National Park located by Lake Thingvallavtn, the largest lake in Iceland, where the American and Eurasian Tectonic plates meet and are pulling apart. The Golden Circle tour was a five star experience and the full day of sightseeing was worth every penny.

On our last full day we bathed in one of Iceland's most visited attractions The Blue Lagoon, which sits in an ancient lava field. The geothermal spa is basically a giant bathtub of milky crystal blue water rich in blue-green algae, mineral salts and fine silica mud, which exfoliate and condition the skin. On arrival the queues made me a little anxious and I was recommended to coat my hair in conditioner, before entering the lagoon, as although the high mineral content in the water works wonders on your skin it can dry out your hair. But surprisingly the lagoon wasn't overly crowded and although Ben's beard froze, my hair survived! As we watched the clouds of steam roll over the backdrop of snow covered rocks, we enjoyed a drink at the pool bar and I smothered my face in the free silica mud that was available in buckets around the lagoon. The average temperature of the lagoon is around 37-40 degrees and Ben and I came to realise the water was hottest near the vents and took refuge there for a few hours.

That evening I had booked the Northern Lights tour, but unfortunately it got cancelled due to poor weather conditions (a.k.a clouds). But luckily we caught the Northern Lights as we flew into Feflavik International Airport and although a fleeting sight, they were beautiful. Instead we headed into central Reykyavik, visited the Harpa a concert hall which is made with glass-blocks that glisten and change colour on the Reykjavik harbour and Hallgrímskirkja the Church of Iceland.

So would I visit Iceland for the third time? Without a doubt. And who can say they saw the Coca Coal Christmas lorries travelling through Reykyavik? Me! I honestly can't recommend Iceland enough - don't let the cold deter you!

BBC Three Counties Radio Interview
This week I appeared as a guest on BBC Three Counties Radio. And it's safe to say, being interviewed by Nick Coffer about my blog British Beauty Addict is without a doubt one of the highlights of my year.

Firstly, I want to say thank you to BBC 3CR for giving me the opportunity and inviting me to their studio in Dunstable and secondly a HUGE thank you to every single one of you who tuned in and showed your support. The whole experience was overwhelming, all whilst a little daunting; not only was this interview live meaning no second chances, 'ums', 'ahs', and brain farts, I also hadn't prepared.

Nevertheless, having anxiously picked off the majority of my nail varnish prior to the interview, I hid my hands and sat directly in front of the microphone and Nick Coffer... Now I'm by no means a veteran blogger, or blogging expert for that matter. But I was myself and I rolled with it...

I can't wait to hear your thoughts. Love your resident beauty addict,

Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015
Last night I attended the eagerly anticipated Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015. Winged liner and lashes applied, myself and Rosi headed to the venue for an evening of awards, giggles, cocktails, and a little singing...

Firstly, I want to say a MASSIVE thank you everyone who nominated me for the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards and showed their support. 64,000 nominations were made and British Beauty Addict was shortlisted  "Best in Beauty". I couldn’t be more honoured and grateful for the recognition! I also want to congratulate everyone else who were shortlisted across all 10 categories and to those who were awarded last night including both two time winner Brogan Tate who won "Best in Beauty" & 'Highly Commended' for "Best Vlog" and Sophia Meola 'Highly Commended' for "Best Use of Photography".

This years Cosmopolitan Blog Awards was held at One Marylebone a beautiful venue and former church just a stone's throw away from Regent's Park, London. And after a lot of deliberation, I wore a b-e-a-utiful embellished maxi dress that was kindly gifted to me by Frock and Frill and had my hair blow-dried to perfection at Colour Nation - thank you!

But the best part of the evening was meeting such passionate like-minded bloggers, including the beautiful Rosi (Rosanna Pierce), Brogan (Brogan Tate xo) and Amelia (xAmeliax). We had such a giggle stayed until the lights turned on and then ended up in a bar across the road for a cheeky jägerbomb.

Rosi and I shared a hotel room and a glass or two of Malibu and lemonade. And I have to say that this girl is so darn lovely - I wish we lived closer! It can be quite nerve-racking meeting fellow bloggers, but Rosi's so down to earth and genuine. I was in good company throughout the night and felt an immense sense of pride to be part of the blogging community.

Mitsis Blue Domes Hotel, Kos
As I flick through the 200+ photos of my recent holiday to the Mitsis Blue Domes Hotel in Kos, it's clear I'm in a deep state of post holiday blues. I mean, who wouldn't be? Just look at this place...

For the second year, Ben and I returned to Kos and for good reason; the Mitsis Blue Domes Hotel is breathtaking. I'm not usually a creature of habit when it comes to holiday destinations, but with functional pools just for show, beautiful views, a pebbled beach, fantastic service, numerous outdoor swimming pools, pretty gardens, friendly staff, fresh pancakes, tasty cocktails, multiple restaurants including Chinese, Mexican & Italian it was inevitable we would return. I felt very much at home lying on a sunlounger, sipping the best lemonade throughout the day to then swap my bikini for a dress and sip on a few piña coladas in the evening. And unlike previous holidays, you can stroll over to the poolside at anytime and find yourself a sunlounger. No sunlounger wars here. And in the evening there is no need to queue at the bar, they'll take your order at the table. Bliss.

During our stay, we signed up to the Mitsis Friend's Club, a loyalty program offered exclusively to repeater guests. It's free of charge and as a member, you can enjoy many benefits and privileges including free Wi-Fi and late checkout. And get this, you collect points per night during your stay at selected Mitsis Hotels and once you have collected x amount you get a free stay! Looks like we need to book a few more holidays hint, hint! All in all we both had a wonderful time, I bought home a decent tan, a happy man and a few cheeky products from World Duty Free
