The All-Over Illuminator

The Allover Illuminator
Looking for a way to ditch dull skin? Well, Hourglass Ambient Light Powder in 'Diffused' isn't like your traditional setting powder; it's not meant for colour or coverage, but it's nicely lit, diffused and glowy finish...

I'm sure you'll agree the product appears rather bland in the pan and I'll admit at first it didn't quite speak to me. But this pale yellowy powder has a slight iridescence that's far subtler than your standard highlight and works like magic when applied correctly. Hourglass Ambient Light Powder has a beautiful lightweight, fragrance free, finely milled formula, that isn't cakey, or powdery on the skin. Applied to the face with a large fluffy brush it leaves the skin looking radiant, but apply too liberally and you'll resemble a character from Twilight! The powder melts into the skin, diffusing any unevenness and discolouration, like your skin has been lit by a soft, diffused light.

The only minor complaint I have, is the powder has the tendency to kick up a little dust so effectively your loosing product and make sure to use a soft brush, otherwise you'll end up with holes in your pan (I learnt the hard way!). But like I said it's a minor complaint and anything that improves my lacklustre skin, whilst taking down shine and concealing redness is a winner in my eyes! Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in 'Diffused Light' is £38.00 and is sold online here

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick In 'Bitch Perfect'

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick In 'Bitch Perfect'

I currently love nude lipsticks. It's the only fail-safe makeup product that instantly polishes any look and I've found a new favourite to add to my nude lip line-up; Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick In 'Bitch Perfect'

‘This is Charlotte Tilbury’s fail-safe recipe for perfect lips. This lipstick is enriched with a breakthrough, secret ingredient, the Lipstick Tree, an anti-oxidant that naturally protects lips from UV damage and external pollution leaving them cashmere soft and irresistible. Blended with special waxes and clever light-diffusing pigments for pert, full-bodied, ultra-brilliant lips that ensure you leave a lasting impression. K.I.S.S.I.N.G is Charlotte’s signature range of ten lipsticks curated with modern and classic icons in mind. It is a capsule colour wardrobe of backstage nudes to red carpet reds made to suit any skin tone.’

The K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks are housed in Charlotte Tilbury's distinctive rose gold metal casing, engraved with the CT logo and although luxurious feel surprisingly light. One of the best-selling shades from the collection is 'Bitch Perfect', a muted light coral with a warm undertone and it's far from bitchy - it's super flattering... dare I say the perfect hue! Along with the shade it also has a fantastic formula offering rich, high pigment in just one coat. The creamy lipstick applies with ease, gliding across the lips without dragging, but doesn't have as much slip as the NARS Audacious Lipsticks, so doesn't bleed. It's light on the lips, leaving a luminous, but not glossy finish, helping the lips to appear fuller and plump. And the lasting power is unlike any nude lipstick I own, it lasts a good 3 hours before a touch up is required.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick In 'Bitch Perfect'

I don't have one bad word to say about Charlotte Tilbury's K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick In 'Bitch Perfect'. Once again Charlotte Tilbury has worked her magic and quite frankly I'd like to find this mysterious lipstick tree, chop it down and plant it in my own back garden! And you may be pleasantly surprised by the price, as at £23.00, it's far more reasonable than the likes of YSL or Burberry.

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches

I've never known an eyeshadow palette to be restocked and then sell out as quickly as the Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette. But just look at it in all it's orange toned glory, it's seriously stunning - no wonder it's a sell out! So after months of eagerly awaiting, as soon as it came back in stock it was a race to the checkout... And yes, I didn't need it, but I wanted it and I can confirm it was well worth the wait.

Firstly, there are no bells and whistles when it comes to the packaging. It's black, sleek, thin, lightweight and plastic. And it's HUGE, housing a whopping 35 eyeshadows. The palette has an array of versatile, wearable-warm toned neutrals, from champagne nude, copper, mocha, rust, bronze, peachy-apricots and dark chocolate - a few of which are dupes for MAC and Makeup Geek eyeshadows. And the variety of finishes from matte, shimmer, satin, metallic and even duochrome, quite possibly put it in the running as the perfect autumnal eyeshadow palette.

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches

I was pleasantly surprised by the formula considering its price point. As although the texture is not uniform and a few of the eyeshadows perform better than others the mattes aren't streaky or uneven, the foiled shades although prone to a little fallout, are intense and arguably just as creamy and pigmented as my Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows. And they have good longevity especially when worn with a primer and blend well.

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches
My only gripe with the Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette is the lack of a matte black and I really dislike the fact the eyeshadows are not named, or even numbered. But petty critiques aside, if you're a fan of warm toned eyeshadows and fancy bagging yourself a bargain at £18.25 there's really no justification needed, as that's just a mere 52 pence per eyeshadow! However, it's currently sold out. But no worries, it's a permanent palette and thankfully Morphe is no longer horrendously hard to find in the UK and stocked online at: Cult Beauty (£20.75), Beauty Bay (£18.25) and Beauty Chamber (£22.95)

Urban Retreat Boutique Wish List

Urban Retreat Boutique Wish List
Let me introduce you to Urban Retreat; a one-stop shop for luxury hair and beauty treatments and premium beauty products. Their flagship store on the top floor of Harrods, houses a whole host of high-end beauty brands including Laura Mercer, Unite, NARS Cosmetics, Shu Uemura and Hourglass. And as I'm feeling a little indulgent, I thought I'd share my top six beauty picks from the Urban Retreat Boutique - notebooks and pens at the ready ladies!

1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit £65.00
The recently released Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit is simply beautiful. Who wouldn't have this at the top of their wish list? The compact contains a set of universally flattering Hourglass powders, blushers and bronzers. I'm a big fan of their soft-focus powder formulation and would go as far to say this is a beauty must have, especially if you're yet to try their best-selling ambient lighting powders.

2. Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation £35.00
The Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation is an old bloggers favourite and was reformulated last year and has been lingering on my wish list ever since. The squeezy tube promises a full coverage, long-wearing, photo-ready finish without the dreaded cake face effect. And as a devotee to Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser I have high expectations. Have you ever tried the LM Silk Creme Foundation?

3. Moroccanoil Hydrating Mask Light £31.25
With the cold weather wrecking my hair, I'm on the hunt for a hair mask to rejuvenate my stressed tresses. It can be hard to find a conditioning, yet lightweight mask, but Moroccanoil's Hydrating Mask Light promises to "deeply hydrate and condition while dramatically improve hair's texture, elasticity, shine and manageability" without weighing down your hair. And with nourishing ingredients including Argan oil, this mask might just be the moisture boost my hair is after.

4. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer £52.00
The Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer may be a little pricey, but having read nothing but good reviews, I'm curious to pocket this mineral-based primer and give it a run for its money! The primer from Hourglass claims to "eliminate redness, minimizes pore size, softens fine lines and create a uniform canvas for flawless makeup application" whilst improving makeup longevity.

5. Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in 'Translucent' £29.00
For many beauty addicts, this loose setting powder from Laura Mercier is their go-to. And it's not surprising as it contains the finest French cashmere talc resulting in a "extremely lightweight, silky, sheer setting powder that leaves skin with a flawless finish". The best seller from LM can be worn alone, or over foundation and concealer and even helps the skin to appear more even due to its light-reflecting silica.

6. GlamGlow Super-Mud £44.99
I love a face mask. And award-winning mask mavens GlamGlow have a clearing treatment to target, prevent and heal problem skin including breakouts, discolouration, black and white heads, razor bumps and ingrown hair. GlamGlow Super-Mud is a "powerful, skin-clearing mud visibly draws out dirt and congestion while a proprietary six-acid blend dramatically brightens and softens skin. It works to magnetically draw out dirt and pores with Activated-X Charcoal, leaving skin smoothing and healthy-looking" - sounds good right?

My New Arm-Candy

Vivienne Westwood Private Envelope Clutch Bag.

They say that the average woman owns twenty pairs of shoes at any given time. But unlike the average women I own very few pairs of shoes. But I do own a handbag/clutch for any given occasion and at one point my wardrobe was bursting at the seams and I could have quite possibly made bag collecting my hobby!

And today I want to pay homage to my new arm-candy; my Vivienne Westwood Private Envelope Clutch Bag. Found under the tree on Christmas Day, the Vivienne Westwood clutch is the perfect classic black clutch bag. Now, novelty isn't really my bag and the VW clutch is classy, minimalist, luxe and just the right size. The envelope clutch is made from 100% (seriously smooth) leather and finished with the iconic Westwood Orb in gold. Inside, the bag is lined in a navy and red Orb pattern and is accompanied by both zip and card compartments. I think its love. Now I just need to pack it perfectly and await the opportunity to wear it out. Girls?!

101 Feel-Good Songs

101 Feel-Good Songs

The third Monday in January is most commonly known as 'Blue Monday' a.k.a the most depressing day of the year. And it's not surprising; the post Christmas lull is both cold and grey. Not to mention I'm broke, my car is falling apart, my social life is on pause, myself and early mornings have fallen out and if one more person says the word diet I might just throw a banana at them...

It's safe to say I'm in a bit of a slog and lacking enthusiasm! But sometimes I find the best thing to do is pop on a feel-good playlist to help lift my spirits and get sh!t done. So I've compiled my '101 Feel-Good Songs' into a handy Spotify playlist, from new hits and upbeat oldies, it's guaranteed to leave you feeling good. Unleash your inner Beyoncé ladies and show the January Blues who's boss and remember lighter days are on their way!

Top 10 Beauty Discoveries of 2015

Top 10 Beauty Discoveries of 2015

Whilst over Christmas I discovered I'm a pro at Pictionary, over the course of 2015 I discovered some rather wonderful beauty products. Usually a little pondering goes into selecting my yearly beauty favourites, but this year the following 10 products stood out amongst the rest. Here are my top beauty discoveries of 2015...

1. Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in 'Serenity' £9.50
My favourite lip product of 2015 is undoubtedly Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Serenity. The liquid lipstick is a beautiful warm pink, with hints of brown and has a formula that's close to perfection and one that Kylie Jenner approves of! Encased in a sleek frosted tube, the formula applies wet like a lip-gloss, before it dries down to a matte finish. It's comfortable and light on the lips, doesn't bleed, smudge, feather, peel or crack and although it's matte it's far from drying. And if that hasn't won you over, it has incredible staying power, unlike any other lip product I've tried, lasting for a full 5 hours before showing signs of wear. Incredible.

2. Urban Decay Naked Skin Complete Coverage Weightless Concealer £17.50
Urban Decay's Complete Coverage Weightless Concealer was everything I hoped the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to be, but more. The liquid concealer applies like a dream, melting into the skin with either my fingers, or damp beauty blender. The rich yet lightweight formula offers complete coverage and has a demi-matte finish. It's also infused with peptides and sodium hyluronate to help the skin retain moisture, which is an added bonus for us dry/combo gals. It's lasting power is pretty good, lasting a full 5-6 hours before showing any wear and that's without a setting powder! And it doesn't stop there, it doesn't look cakey, or settle into fine lines.

3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette £56.00 (Limited Edition)
Gifted to me on my birthday back in July, this palette boasts three utterly beautiful blushers. The trio of baked blushers offer a pop of colour mixed with the best-selling Ambient Lighting Powder formula. Their quality, wear and colour pay off are second to none and their soft focus, subtly illuminating finish makes them unlike anything else I own. The three shades; Luminous Flush, Incandescent Electra and Mood Exposure have a soft texture that kicks up a little product when applying, but this doesn't translate onto the skin. It's safe to say, I'm head over heels...

4. L’oreal Infallible 24HR Foundation £9.99
This quality long-lasting drugstore foundation has become my go-to when I require a higher coverage (aka bad skin days/girls night out). The L’oreal Infallible 24HR Foundation offers me everything I ever wanted from a high coverage foundation for just £9.99, without those high coverage foundation traits. It’s applies beautifully, has a satin/luminous finish. Feels comfortable on the skin and combined with a little setting powder it can withstand the heat and a 12 hour shift! I’ve put this base through its paces and it’s safe to say I can’t fault it. If you have tried the matte version and weren’t impressed, I’d give this a go instead and if you like MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid these two foundations are very similar.

5. Lush Mask of Magnaminty £5.75-£9.95
This seriously minty mask from LUSH cosmetics  includes fourteen ingredients, thirteen of which are natural including; honey a natural antiseptic, peppermint oil which helps to absorb excess oil and aduki beans which gently exfoliate the skin. After applying the gloopy mask to my skin for 10 minutes my skin instantly looks calmer, my blemishes and active breakouts are noticeably reduced and soothed and my skin feels soft and appears to glow. And did I mention it's self-preserving a.k.a no fridge required face masks.

6. Eylure Dybrow In Dark Brown £9.49
This time last year I'd leave my brows to the professionals but the Eylure Dybrow in Dark Brown is straightforward and fuss free. On a monthly basis, I apply a little Vaseline around the brows to avoid dying my skin and simply mix the two solutions together and apply the dye onto the supplied wand and brush through my brows. The rich brown dye helps my brows to appear naturally thicker and more shapely. A brow booster to try.

7. This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray £16.00*
Spritzed at arms length (unless you fancy sleeping on a soggy pillow) the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray instantly creates a relaxing, sleep-easy atmosphere, perfect for my pre-sleep ritual.  The soothing scent is thanks to it's combination of 100% natural essentials oils including: Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Chamomile. Now it doesn't send me off to sleep within seconds, but it does help calm my nerves, alleviate stress, help me drift off that much faster and settle me into a much deeper sleep - it's a little like having a few alcoholic beverages before bedtime! I now can't go without it and you know it's good when you buy a back-up.

8. Anastasia Dip Brow in 'Medium Brown' £15.00
Until this pot of goodness came along from Anastasia, I was very much a powder kinda gal when it came to filling in my brows. But the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade is a brow game changer. With a little practice and the correct brush this product creates beautiful brows. I wear the shade 'Medium Brown' and have no complaints with the colour - it's a great matchUnfortunately it does have the tendency to dry out, but thats nothing a little drop of baby oil doesn't fix. Nevertheless, the formula is smudge resistant, waterproof and highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way.

9. Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara £7.99
I've never been a fan of Maybelline mascaras or fibre wands for that matter, so when Maybelline released Lash Sensational, which has resemblance to two of my all time favourite mascaras; SEVENTEEN's Doll'd Up Mascara & Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara, I had to give it a try. And boy, I wasn't disappointed. Lash Sensational adds both length and volume to my lashes, wears well throughout the day, holds a curl and is intensely pigmented. It can on occasion be a little stubborn to remove, but besides that, I have no complaints. Go buy it.

10. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge £5.99
The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge has transformed my makeup routine. The orange beauty blender delivers an air brushed even finish, that's not achievable with any brush. The sponge is either to work with, with rounded sides, a precision tip and flat edge and is easy to clean with a bar of simple soap. I haven't used a foundation brush since and don't intend to anytime soon.

KIKO Campus Idol Collection | First Impressions

KIKO Campus Idol Collection | First Impressions
The KIKO Campus Idol Collection is here! New for January 2016 KIKO's limited edition collection is as preppy as it gets. Designed to celebrate college and street style, the collection stands out from the rest with its old skool american vibrant packaging and 'KK' coat of arms.

KIKO's latest collection may not be as sophisticated as previous launches and might appeal to a younger audience, but the products formula and performance on a whole are worth a cheer! The fun collection includes 9 new products available in a variety of shades:
All Stars Face Palette (available in 2 shades) £14.90
Double Dare Eyeshadow & Eyeliner (available in 6 shades) £7.90
Prom Queen Eyeshadow Palette (available in 2 shades) £15.90
Pump It Up Volume & Curl Mascara £8.90
Double Match Lipstick & Lipliner (available in 6 shades) £7.90
Urban Sheen Lipgloss (available in 6 shades) £4.90
Brow Expert Eyebrow Kit (available in 2 shades) £14.90
Campus Idol Pochette £8.90
Campus Idol Face Brush (available in 2 shades) £14.90

As a palette lover it will come as no surprise that on the announcement of KIKO's new collection, I was most excited for the All Stars Face Palette and Prom Queen Eyeshadow Palette. The face palette contains 3 powders: a bronzer, blusher and highlight. And I personally like the fact the powders aren't of an equal size and all three shades although a little powdery has good colour pay off. The Prom Queen Eyeshadow Palette houses 6 neutral eyeshadows (and a naff double ended brush), with a mixture of matte and satin finishes. They're soft, easy to blend and once again, have good colour pay off. A few surprising stand outs from the collection includes the weighty, dense, seriously soft, large powder brush and Urban Sheen Lipglosses. If you're a fan of KIKO's best selling Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow, you'll love their new Double Dare Eyeshadow & Eyeliner sticks. The double ended duo, is quick and convenient, with a twist up eyeshadow and complimentary eyeliner. The formula of both products is pretty much on point. They're easy to blend, pigmented, soft and long lasting.

Don't let the packaging of KIKO's Campus Idol Collection deter you, there's a few hidden gems that might just be worthy of a place in your makeup bag. You can find the KIKO Campus Idol Collection online here

December Beauty Favourites

December Beauty Favourites
BBC 3CR interviewIceland, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Christmas, New Year... and a few Celebrations chocolates, it's safe to say December was a-m-a-zing. And I'll be honest it's a Christmas miracle that I still fit my jeans! But Christmas miracles aside, there were five beauty products I loved throughout the festive season...

Kiehl's Tinie Tempah Ultra Facial Cream £43.50*
Although the tub packaging frustrates me (not exactly hygienic, or preserving of ingredients) Kiehl's Ultra Facial cream simply works a treat on my skin, especially now the cold weather is setting in. The cult classic moisturiser although thick in texture, absorbs well, feels lightweight on the skin, deeply hydrates, helps retain moisture, doesn't clog pores, is a great base for makeup, is unscented and instantaneously leaves my skin soft and smooth. I have combo/dehydrated skin and find this moisturiser works very well alone, when paired with a serum things can get a little greasy. (Kiehl's UK will be donating £2 for each purchase of this limited edition Ultra Facial Cream to MTV Staying Alive Foundation.)

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ £17.00
In the words of Jaclyn Hill MAC Fix+ is "my ride or die" finishing spray. Since discovering this product back in 2013 I've repurchased this product many a time and if that's not a testament to how good it is, I don't know what is. Although dubbed as a makeup setting spray, Fix+ is effectively a finishing spray. The difference? Unlike Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray that locks down any base, Fix+ essentially diminishes excess powder/foundation leaving your make up looking refreshed and more natural. The lightly fragranced, fine mist also works wonderfully with pigments and shadows. And throughout the last month I've been spritzing it onto my Real Techniques Complexion Sponge opposed to dampening with water before applying foundation.

Victoria Secrets Fragrance Mist in 'Rush' £12.99
I've always been a fan of the Victoria Secrets body sprays, so on a recent trip into London, I couldn't not pop in store and  spritz myself in the hope of smelling like a Victoria Secrets model! And to my surprise their range had been reformulated and repackaged and although my much loved Victoria Secrets Coconut Passion Fragrance Mist was no were to be seen, I came across a blue bottle full of a fruity, tropical scent which reminds me very much of an old perfume favourite; Ralph Lauren 'Blue'. The mix of clementine and amber doesn't disappoint, not only does it smell great it lasts on the skin and there's something about VS fragrance mists that guys dig. Honestly, it's like Lynx effect, but better. I may not look like a VS model, but I sure do smell like one.

LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel £9.75
The infamous limited edition LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel has become a very welcomed edition to my shower routine. The Barbie pink body wash smells sweet like candy floss and although at first I couldn't quite put my finger on it, the scent reminds me of a pink toothpaste I used when I was younger... and this isn't a bad thing - trust me! The body wash from LUSH lathers well with my trusty body polisher and leaves my skin feeling soft, and my bathroom smelling sweet. Unfortunately the smell doesn't stick around on the skin for too long, but it's safe to say I'll miss it when it's gone.

Anastasia Contour Powder in 'Fawn' £14.00
During the Christmas holidays the need to fake my cheekbones was greater than ever and having finished my Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow, I rediscovered my Anastasia Beverly Hill's Pro Series Contour KitThe shade 'Fawn' in particular is the perfect contour shade for my skintone. The matte, cool toned powder helped narrow my alcohol infused face without extenuating any lumps, or blemish bumps. It's texture is soft, but no so soft that it flakes, it has a good buildable pigmentation, blends well and I can't fault its lasting power, boasting a good 6 hours wear.

What products did you love throughout December?

Best Of British Beauty Addict 2015

Best Of British Beauty Addict 2015As we say farewell to 2015 and welcome 2016 in style (a.k.a torrential rain and gale force winds), I'm taking a look back and sharing British Beauty Addicts top 5 posts in 2015 according to Google Analytics...

More often than not, when a new beauty product is released it's quick to circulate around the blogosphere and dare I say receive hyped up reviews. As a result, I started my 'Worth the hype?' series to distinguish if some of these products are really worth our money and the hype and it seems this particular series went down a treat throughout 2015.

2. Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick In 'Serenity'
The nude one-swipe wonder from Gerard Cosmetics was a welcomed addition to my makeup collection during 2015 and a product that exceeded all my expectations. Admittedly I'd never heard of GC up until purchasing 'Serenity', but the matte liquid lipstick has some serious staying power and for just £11.50 I have no complaints. GC has fuelled my desire to try more liquid lipsticks - any suggestions?

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills 'So Hollywood' Illuminator
Anastasia Beverly Hills releases throughout 2015 were on point to say the least (in fact, I use far more of her products than I give credit for!). The ABH 'So Hollywood' illuminator packs a serious glow, is beautifully embossed and a product I've put a rather large dent in since purchasing back in September. Is anyone else as excited for the UK release of her Glow Kits as I am?!

4. Makeup Must Have: Rimmel London East End Snob Lip Liner
'East End Snob' the drugstore lip liner to rule them all from Rimmel has to be one of the most talked about beauty products of 2015. With Kylie Jenner's lips getting bigger and bigger with every Insta snap, we all rushed out in the hopes of finding that perfect lip liner to help achieve fuller, plumper lips and we found it for just £3.99! Bravo Rimmel!

5. Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015
Back in October 2015 BBA shortlisted for 'Best in Beauty' in the Cosmo Blog Awards. I was overwhelmed to say the least to have been shortlisted and be in the line up with such talented bloggers and felt an immense pride to be part of the blogging community. The awards ceremony was held in a beautiful venue in London and the highlight of the evening was not only wearing a stunning floor length dress from Frock and Frill, but meeting and sharing the experience with genuine like-minded bloggers.

Ladies, I'd love to know your favourite blog post/blogger of 2015.  And don't forget to enter my New Year giveaway to be in with the chance of winning Urban Decay's Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette here
