2014 Favourites: Makeup

2014 makeup favourites

As 2014 comes to a close and we venture into a new year, it’s about time I share with you all my beauty favourites of 2014. As I lacked monthly favourites last year, I thought I would split my 2014 favourites into four categories, with the first instalment being makeup.

bareMinerals Original Foundation (Full Review)
The bareMinerals Original Foundation surprised me with its application, finish, coverage and lasting power. I can’t remember how I came about trying it, but boy am I glad that I did! Forget everything you think a mineral foundation would be and give this a try.

Benefit Erase Paste (Full Review)
Proof that you can once loath a product and then learn to love it. Benefit Erase Paste's creamy peach undertones has been pretty darn fabulous when it comes to banishing my dark under eye area, especially during the last few months of university.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (Full Review)
One of my most treasured makeup products, the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow has been made contouring easy peasy and as a result has allowed me to lose a few pounds without ditching the chocolate. From the beautiful rose gold casing, to the finally milled powder inside, I can’t fault this product - not even the price.

Milani Baked Blush, Luminoso
This sheer coral based blusher has become a staple in my makeup bag. I have read that it is similar to NARS Orgasm blusher, but I disagree, they are totally different, but both blushers are universally flattering on both lighter and darker complexions. It is (if the name hadn’t already suggested) literally luminising with its soft shimmer, leaving my skin glowing also leaving a lovely wash of colour on my cheeks. Personally I love this blusher and every girl should have it in their makeup collection.

LORAC Pro Palette (Full Review Pro) (Full Review Mega Pro)
If I could personally thank LORAC for creating such beautiful eyeshadow palettes I would. These palettes have been a very welcomed addition to my makeup collection in 2014, being versatile with a mix of matte and shimmer and with such a fab colour selection and wonderful blendability (breathe, Emily, breathe). These palettes are simply wonderful.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (Full Review)
Firstly, let me just establish the fact that this gloss is not shimmery (shade 01 - rose shimmer) in the slightest, which throws me as the name would suggest otherwise! It's hydrating, smooth, smells delicious, it’s light on the lips, gives the perfect amount of shine and it is not tacky. A favourite amongst beauty bloggers and without a doubt a holy grail makeup product of mine.

Soap & Glory Supercat Liquid Liner Pen (Full Review)
There rarely goes a day where I don’t wear liquid liner and I struggle like most at getting even feline flicks (1st world problems). But this eyeliner has been a godsend, helping me create the most wonderful cat eyes with easy application thanks to its flexible felt tip nib. At £6.00 you can’t go wrong. Highly recommend you give this a try if like me your a fan of a feline flick.

SEVENTEEN Doll’d Up Mascara (Full Review)
We have a non mover! During 2014, I struggled to find a mascara that trumps SEVENTEEN’s Doll’d Up Mascara. Priced at £6.29 this mascara exceeded my expectations and I have recommended it to everyone and now both my sisters and a few of my friends have too become big fans of the  rubber, curvy brush that coats the lashes with a wonderful black formula that doesn’t flake or smudge. I can’t fault it.

Happy New Year!
What’s your favourite makeup product of 2014?
